how do you escalate an issue to engineering
Escalation done RIGHT is a skill, not a failure. The panel wants you to understand that good escalation = bringing information so engineering can act immediately. Before you escalate: 1) Reproduce/confirm the issue. 2) Gather the data — error, logs, measurements, conditions, what you've already tried. 3) Form a clear hypothesis of what's happening. 4) Ask a SPECIFIC question or request, not 'help me.' The key line: 'I escalate with enough information that the engineer can start solving, not start investigating.' You've already done this — working with engineering at Onto. Show you know escalation is how GPS protects the customer (fast path to the expert) and why you're proactive, not defensive, about it.
